Steamboat Springs has continued to impress skiers and boarders with its sustained above average precipitation, meaning new snow daily. Steamboat began recording snow fall and conditions in 1893 and five continuous months of above average precipitation has only been recorded once.
The base of the Steamboat Spring’s Ski Mountain has already reached 62 inches and 78 inches at the summit. The total snow fall has already reached 200 inches and will exceed that after tonight! The last time Steamboat broke the 400 inch mark was in March, 2011. This could be the year Steamboat does it again. Many people think this is the year Steamboat breaks the 450 inch mark by March, but breaking records will be left in the hands of the snow gods.
For now we can only cross our fingers and enjoy these perfect powder conditions, as the snow continues to fall.
